Buoyancy in the Netherlands' equipment market

Construction equipment sales in the Netherlands are expected to grow for the next two years to stabilise at a high level according to a new Country Analysis form Off-Highway Research. This will see demand remain above 5,000 units per year until at least 2021, compared to the recent low of 3,413 machines sold in 2013.

Looking at the historical growth of the Dutch market, the report said, “The biggest increase has been seen in the crawler excavator market, which is largely a reflection of how badly this sector was affected by the financial crisis. The market has grown by 50 per cent over the last five years and is only now reaching a level that was considered normal in the decade prior to the financial crisis.”

In addition to the opportunities presented by the general buoyancy of the market, changes in preferences for different types of equipment are also expected to be seen in the coming years. “Some product sectors are yet to mature, such as telescopic handlers and compact wheeled loaders, and so the populations of these machines are still growing,” said the report.

As well as examining the market for 17 different type of construction equipment as well as agricultural tractors, with historic data, forecasts and analysis, the report also includes sections on production of construction equipment in the Netherlands, with manufacturer profiles. There is also a section profiling the major equipment distributors.
